He started writing at 7 years old when he wrote his first song titled For A Reason when he was in the first or the second grade. At the age of 11, he knew that singing is what he wanted to do and what he wanted to be. When he was 8 years old, his father was arrested and sentenced to a 55 years in prison for a robbery gone wrong. His grand mother passed away for heart failure in 2010 which left young Kentrell to take care of himself ans staying at his friend’s house. His mom and friends helped him for the studio time for the project that would change his life. Strings of other mixtapes followed including Mind of a Menace, Mind of a Menace 2 and Before I Go. Then Young Boy attracted attention with his October 2016 drop of 38 Baby mixtape whose vide has since then gone viral with 5 million views on YouTube.
